Ribbon mixers are also called ribbon blenders. Ribbon Blenders consist of a U-shaped horizontal trough and a solid agitator shaft mounted with spokes that support outer and inner helical blades called ribbons. Powered by a gearmotor drive, the agitator rotates and produces a peripheral speed of up to approximately 50 rpm. The ribbons move material radially -- the outer ribbons move the ingredients in toward the blender's center, and the inner ribbons move ingredients out toward the blender wall. The difference in the outer and inner ribbons' speeds moves material laterally or axially (along the blender's horizontal axis), in opposite directions. The radial and two-way axial mixing actions promote small-scale random motion (diffusion), large-scale random motion (convection), and shear resulting from particle-to-agitator, particle-to-wall, and particle-to-particle collisions.
Thanks to the versatility and gentle mixing action of ribbon blenders, they have a long material list of applications including spices, instant recipes, drink mixes, nutraceuticals, cosmetics, polymers and plastic compounds, fertilizers and ceramics to name a few. They can be used in any industry dealing with dry materials such as: food and beverage, pharmaceutical, chemical, minerals and energy.
1. Convenient cleaning: It meets the requirements of timely, convenient, and fast cleaning of the equipment interior for each batch and shift, without leaving any blind spots.
2. High mixing uniformity: It can evenly mix materials with a ratio of 1:10000, especially for materials with large specific gravity. Some users have done a field test, mixing 1000 kg of flour and about 5 kg of red powder within 10 minutes. After sampling and testing at each corner, the mixing uniformity is very high.
3. Fast mixing speed and high efficiency: Usually, each batch of materials is fully mixed and stirred within 1-10 minutes, which is 6-10 times or more efficient than other mixers.
4. Fast and convenient discharge: usually 1 to 2 minutes to complete a batch of materials. During the user's on-site test, the discharging time of 1000 kg flour was 47 seconds.
5. Large loading capacity: The equipment usually has a loading capacity (loading coefficient) of over 70%.
6. Less residue: users have always believed that the horizontal equipment has a large amount of residue, but this is not the case, because the gap between the outer spiral belt and the U-shaped cylinder wall is very small, and the continuous operation of the spiral belt during discharge, the materials move towards the discharge valve and are basically completely discharged.
7. Vacuum feeding, dust-free discharge, to avoid dust flying during the entire feeding, mixing, and discharge process.
8. The mixing process is gentle and basically does not damage the original state of the material.
9. No pollution to the material: the mixing mechanism of the equipment is integral, safe and reliable, and all the corner welds are smoothly transitioned and easy to clean; The lubricating parts are all outside the barrel, no dripping oil and abrasive debris penetrate into the material, and can be sealed and operated. Insulate the dust in the air from entering the material.
10. Low requirements on the factory building: the equipment is horizontal, and various forms of driving devices and discharge positions can be selected arbitrarily, without being restricted by the height of the factory building and the occupied area.
